Pizza, Preventative Maintenance, & Old-World Charm
Day 25 Pines 2 Patagonia log
Rest / Prep day in Antigua
We all tried to sleep in a little extra but Antigua was calling our names. After getting a few scheduling details ironed out for routes and timing to Panama, we did some preventative maintenance on the bikes. They all checked out great.
After the chores were done we headed back into town for some lunch and sightseeing. The rich history and faith based influence are very important to the residents of Antigua and it shows. Several of the older (1700’s) Churches and Convents are being restored and others are proudly available for tours and viewing. The shops, markets and people are all very welcoming and allowed us to settle in quickly.
Dinner was at Brooklyn Pizza. The owner Greg is not only a US Army Veteran, but also an avid motorcycle enthusiast and host of some online groups. Greg took excellent care of us and his hospitality was unmatched. We met another rider at dinner who is going from California to Bolivia. Although we had been in contact a few days prior via WhatsApp we were all surprised to be sitting in the same room.
After a few too many pieces of really good pizza and several complementary drinks it was time to head for the barn and get ready for our border crossing into El Salvador.
