From Spoiled to Sea-Bound: The Ferry to Mainland Mexico

Days 10 & 11 Pines 2 Patagonia log

On day 10 we were faced with the reality that our time getting spoiled at Casa Cal had drawn to an end. It was time to finish laundry, make some beds, clean up the bunk room and pack our bags for Stage 2.

Around 11:00 we departed L.B. and headed North for La Paz. Driving the same road we arrived on was equally as exciting and beautiful.

We arrived to the Baja Ferry a few hours early and sought shelter from the blistering sun in a small cantina. The Shrimp cocktails and Asada were great as was the view of the bay from our table.

Even though we will cross twenty boarders on this trip, for some reason we all were a little nervous rolling into customs again. The agent was all business, we were in compliance and we were on the other side and headed to the boat.

Once we found where to park, we were greeted by our friend and fellow adventure rider Daniel. He is a frequent flyer on this ferry and made our trip much easier and less stressful.

Once we rode up the slippery ramp to the 3rd story and got our bikes secured, we got checked into our tiny but sufficient room and then went down for dinner.

Again, Daniel was there to help get us lined out so we happily cover the first round of drinks and enjoyed a decent meal before heading up to the deck to prepare for launch.

It took a while but once we were moving we explored the ship a little before returning to the room and editing pictures and videos for a while.

When morning came the 3 of us had slept surprisingly well and were rearing and ready to hit the road again.

Daniel helped with the flow to get us off the boat and we said a heartfelt Thank You to him outside the terminal.

From there we stopped for a few odds and ends at a moto shop in Mazatlan and then headed South for several hours of beautiful riding along new landscapes and toll roads before finding a gem of a hotel and calling it home for the night.

After an adventurous dining experience and meeting a wonderful young couple who had just become parents of a cute lil girl we locked up pour bikes and began planning out days 12.
