Hotel Roulette & Mexican Hospitality
Day 13 Pines 2 Patagonia log
Punta Perula - Playa Azul
Day 13 turned out to be very much the same as day 12. Hot, twisty roads with welcome spots of shade under the tunnel like trees looming over the road.
We rode for just over 7-hours and clicked off 287 miles (461 km). As we traced the edges of the coastline wondering if there were any more straight roads in Mexico, we were frequently blessed with stunning views of the Mountains, Ocean and Beaches. This highway like the ones in Oregon is lined with charming little towns with homegrown markets and shops. We met several locals who took the time to work through our Spanglish and direct us to food and service stations.
So far in this trip, the Mexican people have been nothing short of amazing and extremely welcoming to these three gringos. They have been patient, helpful, and excited to be a part of our journey… I don’t think any of us expected that.
After a little game of hotel roulette, we landed at a spot just a few blocks back from the shoreline. They were gracious enough to open the Gates and move several of the tables around the pool so that we could pull our motorcycles inside for the evening. This greatly reduces our stress levels and I’m sure equates too much better sleep for all three of us. Just knowing our only mode of transportation, and all of our possessions are more secure makes a huge difference.
The hotel had 6 to 8 young kids staying there, who were excited to receive the flashlights and fidget spinners that we gave them. Thanks Stu 🙏
